Here's a link to the USGS data collected in the area. It shows the discharge rate jumping from 80-100 cubic feet per second to >30,000 cubic feet per second.
I had to go back and re-read the numbers. The 87 year average flow for the Colorado River at Grand Canyon (for this week) is in the 20,000-25,000 cubic feet per second range. The Colorado (through the Grand Canyon) can go a couple of years without seeing 30k cfs.
