I've been reading a new book on desert travel and survival, The Ultimate Desert Handbook by Mark Johnson. Great book, lots of survival information I hadn't found before from existing publications. The book approaches survival from the standpoint of planning and preparedness, and has a huge chapter on navigation in remote desert.
