when i was in 67-69,you had to buy anything beyond your basic clothing issue so it was yours to keep.when i went to turn in my field gear in Korea the guy at the depot told me to go away,we don't want that stuff.i guess they did not want the work of dealing with it so i bagged it up and took it home-ETS..
