Do you know where your towel is?

Before you take this as entirely a joke, remember that a good towel is a fine piece of multi-function kit. It can pad help keep you warm, shade you from the brutal sun, give you a nice place to lay down in a world full of sand spurs, keep the blood in, be twisted up and used to torment siblings or eliminate biting flies. And when your done, it will dry you off.

Knowing where your towel is preparedness.

Douglas Adams got it right.

In the washer. Wednesday is wash towels day. The spares are in BOB and in the bathroom linen closet.

It must be added, though, that the TRUE value of your towel is not exactly in line with the preparedness-spirit of this forum:

Quote:
More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

for me it's always a toss up between a fast drying poly towel and a nice soft cotton one----

I keep a 12"x24" viscose towel in my EDC bag, BOB and GHB. Compressed in the original package it's about the size of 4 Kennedy half dollars stacked, .6oz, and can be used for any number of things. Yes, I am one hoopy frood.
