Anyone care to venture a quess on how long the PSK will last being stored in a reasonably stable environment. I was thinking about stashing some away and was curious on how long they would be good for. When I checked out the one I have, everything seems to be able to stand up over time, but thought I would pose the question.

It would depend what one had in it. I have some of the Micropur water purifier tabs in mine and they have a three year expire on them. I would think most of the things in a PSK would stand up over time, probably depending some on where it was stored.

I added MicroPur MP1 tablets and a little L.E.D. in mine and every 6 months I swap the batteries, and I have to swap out the tablets on 11/14, I dont want to, but I have to!

The MicroPur tabs in mine leaked, corroding the aluminium foil. No other damage though. It had been in the kit for over a year.

Nothing in the Pocket Survival Pack really needs to be vacuum packed, I think. There's some info on one of the links on the front page, and one of the stated design goals was to not include some perishable items so that it'd have a good shelf life. That's why it lacks some things like water purification tablets (have expiration date, 3 yrs I think as stated above) or a flashlight (batteries can go bad or leak).

I'd say you're OK to stash a few. Just take a good look at your needs and be sure to add other things to go along with them. The included documentation has a few suggestions on that. Just make sure you set up a maintenance schedule for any perishables you do add.

The only thing I would do is put the duct-tape in a small ziplock bag to prevent the glue making a mess in the PSP. Everything else will be just fine.
