Anyone wear their favorite tools? Or have of jewelry that has some utility?

A paracord bracelet comes to mind, but beyond that...Ideas? Photos?

The earrings I have on could be used to pick a lock.

Suppose my rings could be used for a fishing line sinker. But I'd cry if the line broke.

Interesting question.

Analog watch = rough compass (weather permitting)

Watch crystal = low quality signal "mirror" (but better than nothing)

Does the "Batbelt" count?

I usually have a leatherman on my belt, I sometimes have a knife there too.
I wear a watch

I guess I am not much of a jewelry person, and tend to go for the pocket full of marbles look instead.

I only wear a watch (20 yr old Swatch) in case I need to take vitals on someone. Otherwise, my cell does just fine as a timepiece.

While I consider my SpyderCo to be aesthetically pleasing, most would not. smile

A friend of mine carries a beautiful self-made small neck knife. Inside the sheet it looks like a piece of jewelry composed of wood, leather and metal. My wife also has a jewelry knife which is a traditional Scandinavian type knife except it is very small.

Does stuff in your pocket count? I guess not... if you hide it in your pocket I guess it's not jewelry anymore. Hopefully, leatherman neckwear will become fashionable some day...

Oh, and I'm a big fan of analog watches, but that's just because I can read the hands on a dial that waaay faster than any digital numbers - and they look much better, too (so amazingly primitive they still think digital watches is a neat idea...). But the compass thing is a bit overrated, IMO. If I know what time it is and see the sun I can usually work out the rest. I doubt I could improve the accuracy very much by fussing with sticks, shadow and the face of my watch.

You don't have to use sticks and shadows. You can just point the hour hand at the sun and work from there. http://www.wikihow.com/Use-an-Analog-Watch-as-a-Compass

I don't wear anything I'd class as jewellery. If I need to wear cufflinks, I chose a pair that act like tiny mirrors. There are other novelty cufflinks around, but I've seen nothing else that struck me as at all useful.

I've seen pendant whistles that would qualify. Eg Atwood's made from titanium.

I've long been interested in sun dial rings. Eg Nomos, Silver Selina Explorer, Other Shepherds Watch. There are many variations, including some that can be adjusted for latitude (which may help establish latitude if you know the time), and some which work at night (via the Pole star). I don't know how practical they are are, really, but they can be cool anyway.

Anything made of silver could have practical use against werewolves or vampires, but that'd be off-topic here.

Silver for werewolves, garlic for vampires. In most vampire mythologies, silver doesn't affect them.

But I don't know of any socially acceptable way to wear garlic. smile

In True Blood, silver affects vampires. The mythologies aren't terribly consistent.

Anyway, having been reminded by this thread, I've ordered one of the silver explorer sundial pendants for myself.

Why not reverse the concept?
Survival gear that is also jewelry? Shiny hollow military buttons (in the civil war soldiers used to keep some dollars in there for prison if they were caught). Get a small knife or tin opener decorated and use as a brooch?
And of course the chain for a necklace can be very strong wire or cord (put a weak link in so you don't hang yourself).
The Ranger Rick one has a wire saw.
There are charm bracelets that can have one charm with money in a glass fronted box. In fact money rolled up in a pen was one tip we got for escape and evasion in the army.
just use your imagination.
