I am thinking of buying a multitool to carry in my emergency pack in the car. After much research I decided for the swiss rescue tool, by victorinox, a variant of the X tool. Has anyone any comments or suggestions? Also, I have seen that there is a version of the X tool that comes with several screwdriver bits. Does anyone know if they come with the rescue model as well? You will not believe it, but I have troubles locating a good e-shop in Europe to order it!

i got the normall X, a good choice, i personally don't need a seatbelt cutter, so i chouse the X instead of the rescue. in which EU which country do you life ?

I live in Greece. In the other hand I do not need the file that's why I prefer the rescue. Any comments in the swiss tool's value?

IMHO the swiss-tool is worth its value. I myself use the Wave but I had the chance to try and use the swiss tool. It is sturdy and strong but I find it less practical to use than the Wave for myself. At the end it is all personal choice. I think both are worth the money you pay for them.

As far as I know the bid-set can be used with the rescue tool and it is sold seperatly for both tools.

in this part of europe, holland. The swisstool is much cheaper then leathermens, so the swisstool is the best value.
Swisstools goes for € 110 here and leathermen wave's for € 170... in holland

don't know any e-shops which sells them in greece.

Damn. Guys you are getting ripped on that. but on the other hand my outdoor equipment bought in Holland was 1/3 of the price I would pay for it here in the US.

i know ! <img src="images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> what did you bought for 1/3 the price ? never seen outdoor products in holland which are that much more cheaper. In general the european price of european product are about the same as in the US, but the US made products are way over priced, usually more than twice ! i have even seen CS SRK's for € 240 ( $ 280 ) !!!!

When I was in Amsterdam I bought huge internal frame pack, couple of ice axes, scarpa boots, wool socks, few wool fleece lined hats, fleece jacket, snowboarding pants with recco avalanche system and some other misc stuff. All that was like $500 buks or so. When I get back to the US I priced it all on REI site and it came up to be about $1400.

I bought the wave with the tool adapter for less than 100 Euros here in Istanbul. The swiss-tool was also almost the same price. I hope you guys never let us into EU <img src="images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I think it depends on when you were there. A major change in the currency had happened few years ago.
