Presumed, the rumors regarding insecticide are true. Black plastic garbage cans have been made with a insecticide also. Are they dangerous? Yes, I know of numerous horse and dog poisonings when they were used to store food. The insecticide ( usually an organophosphate) leaches out via moisture and heat;both present in trash and food. They will also offgas merely standing empty. By law they are supposed to label the product. Look for the typical fine print warning.
