Instead of TP, have you thought using a travelers pack of Baby Wipes instead? They don't take much more space then the TP and are more versatile, sanitary wise.
Instead of a pencil I carry a bright red Sharpie. It can be used to write on anything from rocks to trees.
Good ideas. I used a pencil because I can shave it into emergency tinder if needed, and it also gives me something to wrap the braided line around. I suppose I could wrap the line around the outside of the frog spear base, and stick a mini sharpie inside.
