I've carried a Nalgene Flask in my cargo pants pocket for several years. Durable, low mass, good shape for pockets, always available. The blue cap is supposed to be used as a cup and the blue sleeve is supposed to be a "durable insulation sleeve", but are a waste of material and I don't use 'em.

I carry a .75L stainless steel waterbottle in my backpack, which I take just about everywhere.

When I'm out and about a 27 oz Klean Kanteen is in the pocket of my EDC backpack.

In the city, no, Outside the city I carry water, usually in Nalgene bottles [plus a case of bottled water in my vehicle].

For urban EDC, perhaps one of the collapsible soft "bottles" would work well.

I like the metal ones, even though they are prone to nasty dents. Nalgene types or other.

Nice to know you can boil water in it should the need arise. I don't have a large level of trust when it comes to water tabs any more.

The month with the runs and severe cramps leads me to boil everything.

Nalgene 32oz narrow mouth everywhere I go until I upgrade to the Klean Kanteen SS 40oz wide mouth. Just wish the KK was compatable with the capCAP...Worth the trade off. Prolly get the KK and then use a Nalgene 32 wide with the capCap as backup

I have several, both metal and plastic. A recycled Gatorade bottle works about as well as any. I usually nest a cup of some description on its base. That way I can prepare the indispensable nice cup of tea.

If weight and bulk is an issue, the various Platypus containers are worth their price.

Nalgene wide mouth liter (complete with BPA) and a capCap, with an Olicamp cup at the bottom of the water bottle pocket of my Jumbo. I've also got a water bottle carrier clipped to the passenger seat of my truck that has Gatorade bottle with a twist and sip top- much easier to use if driving.

I dont see any need to EDC a water bottle in most urban areas, in most conditions.
I have drinking water on tap and in bottles at home and at work, which about 3 hours walk apart, or about an hour by bus.

If some emergency required me to walk to/from work then carrying water would be sensible, but not normally.

If some disaster or emergency struck whilst I was in transit, I am never more than about 90 minutes walk from home or work.
Even in hot conditions I am confident that I can walk that far without resupply.
