This news article on disaster preparation appeared today in our local newspaper. Not a bad primer.

I appreciate their statement that you need to be able to both Bug Our or Bug In, depending on the situation. Very decent.

Not exactly a major newspaper but the article is not all bad.

I read it as a good light article to get people thinking a little bit.
Be Aware,
Make a Plan,
Be Prepared.

No real heavy lifting to do and not TEOTWAWKI
All of it is basic sound advice.

I think the most valuable words in the article were "Be Aware." So much effort is wasted because most people won't understand the specific emergencies/disaster in their local area. Perhaps there should have been some direction on risk assessment.

Some of the risk is directly related to the seasons. It's about to be mid-March in Texas. That means thunderstorm/tornado watchfulness needs to be stepped up.

Yes, Yes it is (as we all know). And another good observation made in the story for those reading it who don't think about preparation often.

Well, the same discussion has hit the papers over here:

It seems this "preparedness" is now news worthy.
