I got some blood coagulant for my birthday.

As well as a cheapie solar powered radio, mother earth news subscription, and some other emergency goodness.

Anyone else have some unusual gifts they've gotten because people knew they didn't want a necktie?

That's classic!

I tend to get REI gift cards, with which this year I bought Quick Clot, among other things.

It took me YEARS to get people to buy me some power tools for birthdays and Christmas.

I thought it was pretty funny to get blood coagulant. I didn't ask for it. I had bought a new hatchet, i wonder if they think its a ... um... related item?

Some people regard hatchets and axes as down right dangerous, so it might be. But enough of these cutting remarks...

Because people know I'm into preparedness I've gotten small compasses, pocketknives, whistles, and other stuff. The only downside to this is that most of it is cheapie or dollar section stuff but I don't get upset at all. It's the thought that counts. smile I give it to someone else if I don't need it or it just collects dust in one of my many junk drawers.

My dad DID get me a copy of The Dangerous Book for Boys which was kind of cool.

But anyhow, the friends that know me in my hometown know I'm a HUGE fan of the Hammer Horror movies, especially the Dracula stuff with Christopher Lee / Peter Cushing. I'm sponsoring a showing of Horror of Dracula this October at my small movie theater in town and in response the manager of the theater got me this strange blood energy drink . I'm not drinking it but I've still got it for giggles. Ignore the stupid comments at the bottom of the link, as just a caveat to all of you.

I get 6 packs of the various flavors of Abita Beer. It's a Louisiana Micro Brewery.

Remember, one can never be too prepared!!!!!!

beer is an awesome barter item, has many valuable salts and minerals. A wiser man would look into long term beer storage. Maybe I'll start being wise.
