I had found a deal on the net and I don't work for or anything with the company but I wanted to give you guys a heads up on a bag (the Osprey Space station 140) http://www.backwoods.com/osprey-packs/spacestation-140.html
This bag I just got in today to replace my existing long range BOB that is designed to be mostly traveled with by car or bike with trailer. It has the capacity to be wheeled down trails and is very durable with large capacity. It's purpose is long evacuation movements. Anyway they are trying to get rid of some inventory and they dropped the price to $130.50 when you click to select the item. I had originally e-mailed them thinking there was a error on their website but they informed me it was a inventory reduction sell. I don't know if anyone is interested in one but I thought I would give you guys a heads up before it goes back to $250. I wasn't sure if this was crossing the line on reporting sales that we find while not working for the company but reporting it for others benefits, if it is please delete this thread. Anyway good luck to those who get one, I can vouch for this bag, you will be pleasantly surprised at how good this bag performs.
I had forgot to mention it is people friendly lowering your signature profile.

Good find, thanks for bringing it to our attention! I use a similar bag for our family's BOB. I figure 99% of the time we would be bugging out due to some localized, non-TEOTWAWKI event and just need to spend a night or so at a hotel or friend's house. Wheels are much better than strapping it to the back, especially if the DW needs to evacuate while I'm off on a business trip.

Osprey is a terrific brand.

I have one of their backpacks.

Thanks Blast and sarbound it's still at this price at 8pm est, you have to click select color and sizes to see the discounted price. I bet these won't last long because they are under the price that they are buying them. They are trying to get rid of surplus inventory. Lifetime warranty and a great durable pack at that price is awesome.

+1 on the wheeled duffle bag idea. Lots of room and no weight on your back. You might even add a wheelie bag for each family member.

If you want a large wheeled duffle bag, go to the ice hockey store and buy one of the jumbo-sized ones meant for goalies. The things are huge!

a $15 luggage dolly will serve the same purpose.

I think the wheeled bag is certainly a good option but I also think a backpack and a plan for pairing down to just what you can carry in the backpack isn't a bad idea.

A good used golf bag could be very useful - replace the bag with a good larger backpack and a cargo tray. These bags are designed to be wheeled over ground.

One caveat - ANY wheeled bag will leave easy-to-follow tracks......

I always thought one of those square carry-on bags would make a great BOB/Emergency kit. Like this:

http://www.seatkase.com/

Their somewhat rigid design means one can use it for a quick improvised seat, they roll along the ground better than a typical wheeled duffel bag, they have a big opening that allows one to easily see everything that is in there and grab what they need quickly with minimal displacement of other items. The only other thing I would like is some shoulder straps so it could be carried on one's back if the need arose.

Otherwise, I would love to buy enough of them so that I would have one for each member of my family, then turn them into BOBs/emergency kits (something along the lines of the Ready.gov emergency kit recommendations).

I remember reading a topic that had a link to a company that sold large wheeled, all terrain camping bags. Yoy could even get a large T bar handle as an option.

Got this one in black for everyday train commuting.

The best part is that you can detach the backpack and use the wheeled cart to move something else. Also the vertical shaped design allows for much more tolerable maneuverability in public transport considering its volume. The handle on this model is much stronger than anything I saw in the larger travel wheelers. Rain cover is included too.

In urban environment it made 40 miles already (1 mile every day).

Here's another nice one, designed to be used as a trailer, pull-along luggage, or backpack. The bag has a 70L capacity, which is fairly large.
