Baking Soda! great one! i never thoght about that one! that would work better because you can extinguish small fires with it, because it produces carbon dioxide when heated. i heard this somewhere.

Hmmph. One learns things in the most unexpected places. I always thought it just smothered the fire, and assumed any other non-flammable solid would work as well, such as salt (but NOT flour!). Now I know Baking Soda has a specific advantage. (I did confirm that it breaks down and releases CO2 when heated.)

Baking soda can also be used to brush your teeth and as a body deoderant powder.It is also a good mild scouring powder for camp dishes.Baking soda is one of those "multi-taskers" that should always be around like a roll of duct tape....

I use baking soda as a deodorant every day. It works perfectly. PLus, no harsh chemicals.
