I've got to take the Kids to Disneyland Florida next Spring (its a chore but someone's got to do it) and I thought I'd take the opportunity to stock up on all the goodies you can buy over there at 50% less than us Brits.
Anyone know any good Knife / Survival or Outfitters stores near Disneyland?

Bear in mind I've got to sneak off without the wife and kids knowing!!

Thanks for any replies (if they've got a website so I can peruse before I fly even better)

Randall Knives is loacted in Orlando. The factory welcomes visitors and usually has a limited selection of knives available. Quality is first rate.

There is also a Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World in Orlando. They carry just about anything you might want for fishing, hunting, camping, etc. The store is impressive enough to warrant a visit even if you're just looking.

There's at least one large shopping mall that has a specialty knife shop in it. The names of the mall and store are escaping me. It's been a couple of years since I was there. Check the yellow pages for knives and you shouldn't have any trouble

Hope this helps,

ED

Scott--
I'll second the Randall shop in Orlando. My wife knows that the next time we go (when the kids are older), MY real destination is Randall! Their web site is http://www.randallknives.com/ . They're expensive, but worth it, IMO. Their leather sheaths are made by Sullivans Leather, which also has a shop in Orlando.

As suggested, check the telephone directory. In addition to the BassPro shop (really is worth a visit--for the whole family--my kids like the local one), look for Army/Navy or military surplus stores, gun stores, knife shops, backpacking or camping shops/outfitters, etc. I always search for these type shops when travelling, and have fun finding them, plus occasionally come up with some goodies!

Don't forget WalMart, a giant discount department store chain. They have darn near everything, and quality ranges from sublime to ridiculous. You pays your money, and you takes your choices.

Good luck, & have a great trip when the time comes.

David

If you want to look at knives, stop by Knives a lot. It's about 45 minutes from the house of the mouse. Here is the phone 407.261.0551. There is everything from Chris Reeves products to SAK's. I have no relation to the business, but i have spent my lunch money more than once after going in just to look. David and Ed have mentioned a couple of the other top draws for the area.

Hmmm, don't know if this is practical or even possible, but could you order things online and have them sent to you at the hotel while you're over here? Or maybe you could set up a PO box in Orlando, but I suspect you'd have to be there in person for that. Does anyone here have any experience doing either of these things?

Scott, will you be staying with friends or have a known address? You may want to arrange for some possible mail orders to your US destination beforehand. Given the state of the world, I cannot help but invision John Cleese in a customs uniform pulling out a Mickey Mouse doll clutching a knife and saying "Whats all this then?" - wink, wink, nudge nudge
