What are your favorite belts and why?

I am looking for a 2" one (I believe that's the size), something I can hang a fixed blade knife from, and also possibly a pistol rig.

Prices seem to vary $20 to $60 and I`m also not sure the best latch mechanism.

1.75" is about the largest width that will fit onto most working type pants comfortably. Bluejeans, Carhartts, etc.

Check out L.A. Police gear, they're having a closeout on some very nice 5.11 tactical leather belts right now, around 8 or 9 bucks. If you ignore the word tactical in their name, they make some very nice stuff.

www.simplyrugged.com makes a very nice all leather belt too. Along with some very nice holsters.

I have been wearing the Spec-Ops Better BDU Belt pretty much continuously for the last year and I am quite pleased with it. It is available in both 1.5 inch and 1.75 inch widths in a number of colors. They also have a Riggers Belt if that is your inclination.

Sounds like a 58-pattern belt would be ideal. It is 2 inches wide.

http://www.surplusandadventure.com/shop/...ing-300943.html

Along with a 58 pattern pistol holster.

http://www.springfields.co.uk/soldier-95-kit-webbing/all-types-of-webbing/58-pattern-webbing/?id=546

58 Pattern gear is vitually indestructable with solid metal brass clip type buckle and heavyweight canvas contruction so wont melt if next to a fire unlike the plastic webbing belts. eek

If you want to load out the belt then a 58 pattern yoke might be required as well.

The "Wilderness 1-1/2 Inch 5-Stitch Instructors Belt, original model"

http://store.thewilderness.com/product_info.php?cPath=43&products_id=2007

You want the "5-Stitch" for added stiffness over the 3-Stitch, if you plan to hang a heavy gun and holster on there. They also make a plastic insert model that is even stiffer than the 5-Stitch, but I've read many think it's TOO stiff. My 5-Stitch EASILY supports a gun with no sagging, stretching or deformity. Highly recommended.

I will second 5.11 from LA police gear. They even had some deals recently that if you ordered their pants, you get a free belt. In fact, I have an extra leather belt from them, if youre interested. Free to you. its a size L though. I dont wear leather belts so it serves me no purpose.

I prefer the riggers belt by Black Hawk. I wear that any time Ia am doning anything serious. The belt is designed to be able to rappel from as well as hold up your pants.

With the way my world goes,, I need all the function I can get from my gear.
