Hi all,
Very recently I got interested in a simple new (compact)compass and went out to buy the Field 7 by Silva (which I testdrove a week ago in the Belgian forests). Very easy carry, straightforward in use , easy to read, won't put you to tears if you break it <img src="images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
Since I already had another one I started wondering, where could I stow this one away? I know it's best not to put them in a box together, not anywhere next to a lot of iron or steel or a computer or .... But this limits my options for storage. Besides aren't they stored boxed together in warehouses and shops?
Where do you people store your compasses?
What about stowing one in the back of my car, will this affect the performance / lifetime of my compass?
By the way, what about storing one in a tin can for a survival kit? Doesn't this affect the needle?
Any suggestions and comments are welcome!
Thanks
Luca
The best gear in the world is the stuff you have on you at this very moment.
