Been spending too much time on those TEOTWAWKI sites, Mark . Just suggesting we need to think more about reusable resources. Of course you should have more than one option and a bandanna or clothing item could be used in a pinch. Just considering this as an alternative to our disposable coffee filters. Maybe I'll save the cost and shipping and just buy an extra white handkerchief to do the job .

Actually, I don't drink much coffee at home, so all I have is a little 4-cup coffee maker. I bought 500 filters 4 years ago and still have a bunch leftover, so I just used some in my kits.

I also have a bandanna in my kits, but I use that to hold all my Krugerrands for the impending economic collapse!

If you will be in one spot long enough (overnight) you can simply let the water sit in a container, and decant the clear liquid carefully. Be sure to boil thoroughly.
