I hear ya Doug!

I was charged by a black bear about 10 years ago when I mistakenly got too close to her cubs. It was a rainy wet day and I just walked up on them on an overgrown cutover trail. By the time I got my pepper spray out of my rear cruising vest pocket and out of the holster and wrapper the bear could have mauled me for sure. From about 10 feet away she just pushed me back from her cubs, and I was more than happy to comply!

I did have to do some forest survey work in that area so when I returned a couple days later I also sang like I was on Broadway, anyone around would have thought I was crazy, but I never saw any more bears there.
