As I understand the voltage on lithium AA batteries is slightly higher than alkaline. That extra voltage is the issue. I wonder if you used the lithium AA's in a flashlight to work the voltage down to the 60CSx spec. . .hmmm.

The last pack of Lithium Energizers I bought specifies 1.5 Volts.
