i'm planning on kicking off the unHoly Day at dawn, driving around neighborhoods in costume. Then, as the sun retreats and night divides the days, i'll stalk the mortal pedestrian beggers on foot, lurking in the shadows between houses, behind trees, waiting... What will YOU be doing? Will you hide in your home, relying on a carved pumpkin to ward off the evil spirits, or will you be joining those on the dark side as we torment the faint of heart?

I'll be having a traditional "hobo holiday." I'll stay warm with a cup of coffee (decaffeinated of course) and drive around to see what the local churches are doing. Sometimes churches have some fun activities on the 31st which they call Harvest Fest.
Several years ago a local church had the Monster Cool Bus, a school bus converted into a monster truck . . . the vehicle to have when off-roading with a large group.

I intend to scaryface 3 pumpkins at dawn. It is an ancient pagan tradition from before the time prehistory was ever recorded.

Most likely in the early morning hours I'll play video games for a little while and then go to bed. Then I plan on sleeping in for a little bit and then I'm going to a Halloween party my buddy from the factory is having. Several people are going as vampires so I got some stuff together and I'm dressing up as Van Helsing...

partial rant: Halloween is a ridiculous holiday propagated by the Hersey-Hallmark Industrial Complex. That's not to say any adult who partakes in fun activities is ridiculous, but the amount of money and impact we put on the holiday is.

Will be helping the neighborhood children get fatter.
We get a lot of trick and treaters. Next to a snowstorm, Halloween is the friendliest, most neighborly night of the year in this zip code. It's fun to sit on the steps and see the little kids and their parents having a harmless good time.
Porch light's out at 9:00p when the too-old kids start coming around with their school packs open and no costume.
My dog has a glitzy pumpkin collar for the occasion.
My Halloween candy supply is oldies but goodies: Milky Way, Three Musketeers, York Peppermint Patties, Tootsie Rolls, Milk Duds.
Dangerous stuff to have around the house for long.
Resistance is futile.

The kids started showing up at the door a few minutes ago. It is windy with cold drizzling rain so I am not expecting more than a hundred to show up.
(Poor little kids. They were bundled up so much that you could hardly tell what their costumes were supposed to be.)

For us it was a quiet night. My wife took care of the treaters and was handing out two chocolate bars to each kid (she couldn't resist the cute costumes!). I know she can't wait till our boys are old enough to go out!!!!
As for me, I fed the boys then watch the Leafs loose yet another game (well, they tied it up then went into over time then lost).

our front yard became a graveyard...:) Out frontyard also became a graveyard. We had nineteen headstones, only three that were not homemade, and a 6-foot long, 30 inch wide pinebox coffin, with a grim reaper standing over it. The front steps had a cauldron with dryice fog. Some comments: "that's so cool;" "the awesomest decorations ever;" etc. Other comments incuded agreement and thought provoking, because much of it had messages, which might be considered political, so I will not repeat them here.

our front yard became a graveyard...:) oh my god, i'm in stitches! this was a good night. the neighborhood where some of my SCA buddies live is PERFECT for the Shape, looks just like Haddonfield. i finally got to put my Samhain to use, and i kept my cellphone in my pocket to play my Halloween Theme ringtone whenever i approached a group. that was a great touch. i had a great time stalking the few older trick-or-treaters we got. best group was two girls and a guess their boyfriends. the girls went up to the porch for the candy, the guys being too cool for such things. i crept up behind them, silent as the Shape itself, they turned around froze for a good three seconds. one girl made a run for it when i started toward her friend, who jumped over porch ledge(three feet high MAYBE, don't worry) when i came after her. :lol the BFF Abandoner was HOT too, tall, athletic judgin from her leg, dressed as a gothy witch with a split dress(i know there's a term for it but i dunno it). i then followed them for about three houses, until they turned down the next street. one of my friends said my mask was "positively terrifying." i just wish there'd been more teenagers; i don't chase the wee ones cuz i'd feel like an a***ole. one little girl, though, not scared at all. her dad said she lurves Michael, thinks he's, like, her bestest friend. so i signed her candy bag with a sharpie. another, sort of a cross between a ninja and on angel. beat me(ie. barely touched) with her plastic knife and i fell over dead until her daddy told her to say "hocus pocus you're alive," then i sat straight up, turned my head towards her, and gave her some more candy. adorable. it was great a few times being a "lawn decoration" and then turning suddenly when they were about a foot away.

stayed at home waiting in vain for trick or treaters to climb the cardiac-arrest-inducing steps to my front porch. Then went to a party late and got roped into being a judge for the costume contest. Today i went and stocked up on the half priced candy!
