i call them Dog Hikes.as we live in Minneapolis and have large active dogs they need to be given a good work out every day,every day--summer--winter-rain-snow..it's great for us also.gear is
simple..cell phone,water bottle in summer,hot drink for us in winter,a Bic,whatever knife come to hand.the "hikes" are in the Mississippi river backwater parks or right on the river.



at one time i was trying to use the dog walks to test gear.like the winter stove try out,but i found you have to keep moving as the dogs don't want to sit around while you fool with camp gear.
for evening walks around the block i just take the cell phone,a few years ago not even that.
