In the movie The Hunted, what was the knife Benicio Del Toro used. Was it Specially made for the movie or was it made before that? Can you buy one.

The knife is made by TOPS www.topsknives.com. They are also the makers of Chris Janowskie's interesting WSI Ranger. Retail price is $299.00. Steel is 1095 carbon,58 Rockwell, 1/4" thick, micarta handles and another black painted finish variation. You might want to take a deep breath before making any investment. Secondhand units are going very cheap. I handled one some time ago. The gut hook instructions are rather telling, requiring a small primary incision made with another tool ( Swiss Army Knife, hand knapped obsidian awl or what have you in a survival situation.) So much for the 'one tool into the wilderness concept.' I found the design heavy with very awkward ergonomics. The Apache cowboy who taught my early skills used his USMC KABAR and a Stockman's folder carried in his Studebaker truck .

I'd like to throw the Tracker at the guy who suggested doing this with a dedicated survival knife. Current multi purpose knives are the above unit, Chris Janowskie's Ranger ( possibly out of production,it wasn't listed by TOPS,but Jerrie's site has it listed,) and Ron Hood's ATAX. You could also get a Spetsnatz survival tool. My issue with most of these units is even calling them a knife. Pick up any common blade. It has a point for piercing, rounded belly for fine shaving and carving around obstacles and a straight edge for cutting and chopping. I've handled all of these designs. The WSI at least looks like a knife. With all the others I was wishing for a axe, saw, shovel, astrolobe and cocktail mixer.

Would you suggest a Becker BK-7 over a "multi tool" type knife for overall usage?

Beckers are robust ,relatively inexpensive knives popular with many forum members. Buy it and have fun. Should ( when ) you find the need for a smaller utility knife look at all the money you still have.
