For some reason, I occasionally think about this woman, Rose Bauhaus, and for a while I googled her name to see if they had found her yet.
Well, they found her in April.
"Rosalie Ann "Rose" Backhaus, 53, of New Castle tried to line her garments with plastic to stay warm and probably lived a couple of days in the cold conditions, said Emery County, Utah, Sheriff Lamar Guymon.
"Three hikers found Backhaus' body in a narrow slot canyon in the upper Chute Canyon area near Goblin Valley State Park, about 60 miles southwest of Green River."
http://www.denverpost.com/nationalpolitics/ci_12256432She was found 120 miles from her car. I just don't think she intended to go that far, so I suspect that she lived more than a few days. Ten miles a day in that country would be a good day.
Don't get complacent. Be careful. Use your head. Keep some gear with you.
