I am new to the forum but thought I would say this is a great forum and site. I am an avid hunter and backcountry flyfisherman. I have been reading all the reviews of the personal survival kits and the homemade ones and all of them include some sort of knife but the great majority of the knives are pieces of crap. Instead, in my backcountry kit I always carry two zwickey black diamond glue on broadheads. You can easily fashion a handle and use it as a knife or for their intended purpose, they are small and light weight also. I also always have a tube of super glue gel in a protective plasticsleeve, it has saved my butt many times, after I use it I just replace it when I get home so I will always have fresh. I just wanted to add a couple of things that I have found useful and are light and easy to carry. WEB

WEB: Thanks for sharing your idea about broadheads. I've thought that a broadhead (or two) would be a good addition to a kit for use as a knife or spear tip or arrow tip.

But I've had little luck finding a head with two (rather than three) edges that looked compact enough to slip into my PSK.

Can you suggest a web site for the broadheads you're talking about, so I can take a closer look?

Thanks!

I just did a search. I've been looking for something like this also. Thanks for sharing.

An alternative to a traditional broadhead is a bow fishing tip . I carry one when I go hiking because it can be used for fish as well as small game. I like the penetrating point on it to augment the cutting blades I already carry. It also has a hole drilled to tie a line. It might be a little too single use for a small PSK, but I just wanted to mention it as an alternative.

BTW, the link to Cabelas I gave was because it's the best picture I could find. You can pick up just the tips at most large sporting goods stores and some archery and fishing shops for just a couple bucks.

Chris.

Looks like the tips on my spear fishing guns. I like the other tip better, because of the versatility of the blades. Thanks for posting it.
