I am not sure how much the dollars mattered Garlydog. I read in the news all the time about people who embezzled far more than that getting off with time served and/or parole as long as they show regret and promise restitution.
I think his big crime here was thinking he could evade the justice system, seconded by the insurance fraud.
Insurance frauds usually get punished heavily too, much more heavily than somebody abusing an expense account.
As the article noted, insurance fraud investigators will pursue you like the hounds of hell.
