What's wrong with ingesting beer and pretzels in front of my TV frown

Just spent the day cutting and limbing trees... with my axe and my hands wink

..jab, jab.. wink

I sell eggs for $5.00 a dozen. Really.
They are the best damn eggs you ever had, that's why. I bring them to the office.

What??? Why should it be? Your 'vast majority' is parked in front of a TV with an electronic game in their hands, ingesting junk food and beer.

The 'vast majority' doesn't do diddly.

That's true but then again, our society simply cannot go back to self-sufficient farming. It can't work that way. We've already been there, done that - in fact, well until the late 18th or 19th c. the population of most Western countries consisted largely of farmers/homesteaders/peasants, whichever way you call them. That's still how things are in the third world but I don't quite think anyone would consider that a good alternative.

The problem is, our society is now far more specialized. The average person has many more needs than a 19th c. peasant. We need more specialized jobs and workers with very specific skills and education. That is simply not possible in an "organic" agricultural society where you need pretty much all the available manpower for farming just to survive.
