How do I secure my cat-eye helmet band on my Kevlar with 550 cord?

I was issued cat-eyes for my Kevlar helmet and told to secure the headband with 550 cord (parachute cord), how do I do it?

Take a piece about a foot long. Loop it over the helmet band, running from under the camo cover thru one of the slits. The free ends go inside the helmet, tie them off inside the sweat band. Cut off the excess, whip the ends with a lighter.

There should be slits on your cloth helmet cover. Run some 550 through the slot. Its just a dummy cord. So if the band comes off the helmet it won't get lost by falling off.
