Rentals can fail and do - A rental car is an unknown factor, you don't know it's history (there's an excellent chance it's been badly abused by previous drivers) and it's maintenance may be less than ideal...but sometimes there's just no way around them
Yep. I had a coworker who liked to say, "The best off-road vehicle around is any rental car." He proved it on more than one trip, too.
