One of the funniest things I have seen is when a friend who had never used a dial phone asked to use a phone a few years ago. I said 'sure, it's in the hall'. After a few minutes he comes back looking frustrated and tells me there is something wrong with the phone. He tells me that he tried pressing the buttons but the phone wouldn't dial.

He made his call after I showed him how to spin the dial to input the numbers. LOL.

Been a while since I have seen or used a rotary dial telephone. I used to place the handset from a rotary dial telephone into the cradle of a Hayes modem hooked up to a TSR-80 with a 8" monochrome monitor as I remember it. A real step up from the normal 6". Man, that modem was high-tech. At 300 baud it was smoking. LOL.

I was living outside a small Mississippi Village named "Moselle" and it is in the "free state of Jones County".

I was 11 and totally consumed by the Space Program. I did not leave the TV during the moon landing, except to sleep, when I couldn't stay awake any longer.

This was "powerful stuff" for a lad who barely knew what "Star Trek" was!!

I was 6 years old and living in a small house behind the soda pop bottling plant owned by my parents. I remember my father telling my how important this event was and me trying to stay awake for the moonwalk, but I do not think I did. I do remember on a later mission that I looked up at the moon with binoculars to try and see the spacecraft leave the surface, no luck.

I still have 2 functioning rotary dial phones at my current home, one in the garage and the other on my workbench.
