Have you any experience with Swedish FireSteel? Is possible to buy it in U.S.? Or can you recommend something better?

I've got a couple of them.
They are wonderful ... nice handle (very secure and comfortable)
... good length (aprox 3") ... 3/8" diameter.
They are a ferrocerium rod. There are a bunch of different folks that carry them. If you want a small, keyring unit (1/8" X 1" with a plastic handle); most BoyScout supply locations have them for under 2 bucks. I've got some 1/2" X 4" rods available.
I keep one in my pocket all the time ... no use if you don't have it with you when that unexpected moment arrives!

Mike

Mike Mlodzik
Mike's Emergency Preparedness Forum
