I walked into the kitchen this morning to a pile of egg shells, coffee grounds, old corn and such in a big bowl. Asking, a bit hypocritically, why she hadn't cleaned up her mess she responded, "I'm finally going to start our compost pile out back for the garden I am planting."

My wife has put up with my EDC's, sometimes encouraged my purchases, but dare I say not embraced self-sistance. She has supported me but it was seldom 'us'.

Has someone in your family swung around to your (our) desires for preparedness and self support without your prodding, lately?

Sounds good to me smile

I am encouraged to buy ammo and canning stuff, and our garden overgrew our raised bed so now it's sprawled on the deck... watch out it's gonna get much worse.. err better wink wink

One morning last fall, I woke up and saw my wife out in the yard butchering a deer that a friend had dropped off even earlier in the day.

Be advised, that it was somewhat unsettling seeing her covered with blood, butcher's knife in hand and a smile on her face. LOL

Yep, two really big surprises.

Sudden interest in being prepared has caused her to ask for help creating a GHB to augment her jeep with.

The other surprises just do not belong here at all.

GHB?

Anyway, ya my wife put up strawberry jam this year too. She also got her CCW. She is carrying her BOB on trips and an EDC. It was like a light switch went on and BANG! She is ready for just about anything. AND she is enjoying it. WHO-DA- THUNK?

Back when my wife was just a friend (friends for 14 years or so before the 'magic' happened), she mentioned she wanted a knife for something (couldn't remember the reason). I lived 1/2 country away and had an express parcel to her in days with a brand new SAK with her name engraved on it. She still has it to this day! One thing I noticed when looking at the SAK now is that the saw is beat up... I don't dare ask the quiet librarian why!!!

And to top it all... we where just chatting about hurricane prep last night... Basically we are adding to our hurricane supplies by buying a generator (nothing to small ;-)), window AC unit, and a new bbq with a side burner.

Did I mention I love my wife!

Ditto on the canning strawberies. made several batches inthe last month. She pulled some fresh bluberies off our plant earlier tonight for me. And the short hike we went on last weekend turned into a 9 mile affair.

DW encourages me purchasing basically everything I put away just in case. When your wife is worried about whether you have plenty of ammo, it's not a bad thing.
