You can get a cheaper phone like the Samsung Propel ( SGH-a767 ) and get web browsing, text message, and I even get email (Yahoo) on my SGH-A747 (pretty sure the a767 has Mobile Email too). I installed Google apps to get my GMail and Google Maps. Total cost per month can be around $60. Not sure of family plans.

Hey Martin,

I stopped by ATT store today because it is time to replace my treo and I need reliable internet service which is whap iphone has.

The cheapest data unlimited and voice plan (no texts) was $69. Sorry dont know about the taxes but the lady seeing my uniform saying the public service workers get 20% off. They probably have something set for your EMS/FIRE agency...

For that cost I get 1,000 minutes per month. Evenings, weekends and calls between t-mobile phones do not bite into your minute pool.

T-mobile has absolutely NO coverage in and around where I live. Not even low signals - no signals.

Bummer since the recurring cost would have been comparable to what you are paying now.
