I sent my Wave in to be adjusted, as the serrated blade had more opening resistance than the pointed blade did.

It came back today, and it's the same, though it looks as if they replaced the knife [no scratches on the plier head.]

My question is, do you find the serrated blade harder to open on yours?

Actually, when I got mine it was the other way around. The plain edge blade was the harder of the two to open.

With that said, I've found that on most Waves, Charges, ect the plain blade is the one that is typically easier to open. I believe this is due to most people using the plain blade more often, causing it to wear in a bit and become smoother.

The nice thing about my newer wave though, is that it uses standard security torx bits (instead of the special five pin security-torx that my Charge and other use). Therefore, the blade tension can be easily adjusted. In fact, the whole tool can be taken apart and polished to make it operate much smoother. I do this to most of my Leathermans in order to make the pliers easily open-able one handed (as they tend to come very stiff). Just keep in mind this will most likely void your warranty and can mess up the tool if not done correctly.

I wonder if they would let me swap the 5 point for the 6 point. I bought a second wave a few years back when I broke a screwdriver tip on my first and the seocnd one the screwdrivers are too tight for me to get open without using somehting else to pry them out. But since I can't adjust the tension I have to be annoyed by that every time I use it.

I happen to have been playing around with my son's LM Wave (the newer Wave model) last night (sharpened it along with other knifes using my SharpMaker) and I'm sure that the two main blades felt fairly similar with respect to opening force. I didn't notice any difference.

I have the same problem. Straight-edge blade is easy, serrated is stiff.
