I'm going to be hit the road for a 3 week trip in a month or so. I'm looking for recommendations on some good hiking trails (overnights if possible). I'm going to start in Colorado than Utah maybe hit Arizona and Cali than turn around and go see family in Wyoming before heading to Montana...

I hiked a lot in four corners area and last year molested the Tetons and Yogi Bear National Park. Looking for stuff that is off the beaten path... I climb as well so if you know about any trails that require some I'm always down (such as Subway trail in Zion...). Any caves???

Any help would be great...

If you're going to be in Utah, try doing Kings Peak, it's the highest summit in the state, I believe. We went there coming from Wyoming I think. I don't know if it's still maintained up there, but, after 9/11, someone put an American Flag at the summit. I think there was a weekend effort the year after 9/11 to put a US flag on the summit of the highest peak in each of the 50 states, but, I am not positive. There was a campground at the trailhead, I'll find the name and post it later, my trailguides are in a trunk out in the garage.

Ok, I broke through the mess in the garage because I was frustrated that I couldn't recall the name of the trail or camping area. The place to camp near the trailhead is called Henry's Fork Campground. There's a trail to the summit called, you guessed it, the Henry's Fork Trail... (There are notes scribbled on my topo to go UP on a trail that runs off of Henry's Fork part way up on the North side next time called North Slope Trail. We must have gone down that way or something, and I made a note that it would be easier the other way around.)

There's no technical climbing that I can recall. You had mentioned rock climbing, but, this is really more just a spectacular hike. Now I'll have to find pictures to post among the various SD cards scattered about...

Have fun!
