Hey all, I'll be running a free edible plant class on May 16th at Peckinpaugh Nature Preserve on the north side of Houston. The class will start 9:30am and run for about four hours.

This nature preserve is totally primitive: no bathrooms, no running water, no covered pavillion. It does have copperheads, mosquitoes, poison ivy, and my personal favorite, alligators. In other words, be prepared (shouldn't be a problem for y'all).

Please RSVP as soon as possible so I know how many to expect. Ideally e-mail me at "merriwetheradventurer -AT- yahoo -DOT- com" so I can keep you posted on any changes due to weather.

-Blast

That's an awesome offer, and great thing for you to do, Blast. I wish I lived in Texas.

If all it takes is a plane ticket, how do you feel about Brooklyn and Manhattan? grin

Pennsylvanians, we could get in on this together...

p.s. Any ETSers in Calgary want to fly me up for the Stampede? I'm dying for a good steak and a Caesar!

I know there are a bunch of us in the SE PA area. Probably a better venue for edible plants than Manhattan. Then again, Central Park would prove to be interesting.

I'll treat you to some BBQ up here in KC Blast. Bring your canoe and you can hit the Mighty MO while you're at it.

Of course there is the small problem that the edible plant species in all of these places are bound to be different than they are in Houston. On the plus side, we don't have fire ants yet. grin

There is always the ever present dandelion though, which seem to be pretty universal...

That sounds worth the detour the next time we are driving up to Minnesota! I suspect 75% of the edible plant in KC are the same as Houston, especially the "weeds".
