I got these “Super Matches” in a general store near home (Lima, Perú). They are used for ignite up coal in BBQ´s grills.
Box says they can burn for 13 minutes.
I will add two or three to my PSK

Yep, we have similar here in the states. They are common. Mind that the igniter material stays dry, and they will decompose in short time.

No loss, you can use them as intended. We've all looked at, or tried these.

You have gained a big lesson: We all have fireMAKING tools but
our fire FUELS are often left to the mercy of the situation trying to kill us.

My SPARLITE is my #1 firemaking tool. It comes with small tabs of tinder. That is step #2 you don't get with $1 lighters.

Step #3 for me is a handfull of 'Fatwood' some wag sells as 'Maya Dust' and the free chopsticks I seem to need 8-12 sets of at the chinese fast food.

I have this split billet of oak seasoning on my porch for the past year. I think I'll drill a hole in a chunk and glue a MORA blade into the center.

Then nobody will give me grief for packing yet another 5lb backup knife.

In fact, I expect when word hits the internet 8 knifemakers will come out with versions and claim to have thought of it first.

I've had problems with this kind when it's raining. Whether the "match" got wet or the striking surface, I don't know, but we never could get the dang things lit. It was cold, rain turning to snow, and we desperately needed a fire. Maybe it was the brand I tried...

this is the sort we have "up north"--i don't try and strike them but put one deep in the tinder pile and light the big match head with whatever i have handy--Bic,paper match, wood match-so on.that seems to work just fine-but like everyone else i have a bunch of ways to make a fire someplace in my gear-
