In a story eerily similar to the one Aron Ralston had to go through a Saskatchewan farmer had to amputate the fingers on his left hand which were jammed inside some farm machinery. There was a story like that on one of ray mears shows once, where a man got his hand stuck in a fishing net winch and he had to cut it off with his mora.
Note - he used a mora, he must have been a descent bloke <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.
