Hello all. I just started following this forum after watching the other one for about a year now. I am just interested to see what people's opinions are on their choice of an SAK made by either Victorinox or Wenger. I know the difference and I am a died in the wool Victorinox user. The only thing I wish they had was cigar cutter, but thats a different story.

Which does everyone prefer and why?

thanks guys,

Garrett

never had problems with vic, wenn i bought mine wenger SAK, i opened the blade and it didn't close anymore. i searched for the unlock butom for awile and them brought it back.... it didn't have lock ! i just thought that they MUST have a lock because it didnt close, but apperently it was a production error. What a nice suprise wenn your testing a new brand...

Victorinox, but probably just because that's what I've always owned.

I like the Wenger scissors better, but as a whole I like Victorinox better. By the way, when I went to Switzerland there are Swiss Army knives everywhere. I didn't think it was like that, but it really is. <img src="images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have a Wenger that I've carried for about 15 years. Don't know the specific model. It has black scales and was sold by Buck but it's a Wenger. Never had a lick of trouble out of it.

Victorinox.

I've had two Wengers given to me as gifts. One lost both it's scales with very little provocation, in both knives the steel seemed very soft, and one blade-tip bent in use that wouldn't have troubled a Victorinox.

Not that they're perfect- I have a little box of spare scissor springs I bought many years ago, about half gone now. Seems like they could have fixed that in all these years... but Wenger seems much worse.

We have Victorinox. They have generally proven satisfactory. However, my latest Fieldmaster seems less capable than its many Vic predecessors. The phillips screwdriver is a little too blunt to be as useful as those on prior models. Also the knife blade seems to dull a little easier than most other Vics I have.
