Go to the deserts in this country if you need to experience one. Death Valley is pretty miserable. Also, one point the article is slightly wrong about is that deserts are high temperature areas. Deserts terrain is based on aridity. Something on the order of less than two inches annually. Both polar regions are technically deserts because they receive very, very little actual precipitation. The snow mostly blows around. So, now you have a few choices right here in this hemisphere: Death Valley and others in the West and The Canadian Arctic regions or Greenland. Additionally, you could go to Chilean/Argentinian border areas if I remember right.
