By chance I happend to watch some episodes of the travel documentary AfricaTrek on PBS where this couple walks from South Africa to Egypt. Pretty interesting so far. They're always having to deal with one obstacle or another and heat and water always seem to be an issue. Anyone else seen it? Pretty minimal gear with an interesting loadout. They use a small/med sized backback and a chest rigged butt-pack in front. Seems like it might put too much weight on the shoulders but pretty neat.
the website really doesn't offer much information on a casual glance, but I wonder if the minimal loadout was because they can expect resupply at the end of the day, especially if they are being documented.
I was wondering the same thing about resupply. From what I've seen they do all the filming with a handheld. They do get invited by locals to have a meal and/or stay overnight on their property quite a bit. Wish there was more info.
