But I see why we have to do the things we do to make sure those that would do harm to people don't get that chance. If it keeps a massive building with thousands of people inside safe....I can live with flying without a knife on me.
No, we are forced to do the things we do to give the masses the illusion of safety. Pocket knife restrictions do NOTHING to prevent 9/11 v2.0

I split my stuff between my carryon and my checked bag. I gave up trying to not check bags a few years ago if my stay is more than a day or two. I have mailed a SAK to my hotel once or twice in the past, but never used it. Don't bother with that anymore. I just relocate a steak knife from the hotel restaurant to my room for my stay and leave it there when I check out.
