I always enjoy trying to improvise kit out of everyday things. Sparklites out of lighters, plaited wire saws etc. I seen posts about 22. shells being used as whistles by blowing across the top. I tryed this but never managed to get a satisfactory noise out of them. The other day, using a junior hacksaw and a small file, I cut a perfect semi-circle out of the top, like on some commersial whistles, and stuffed half the end up with bluetac so that it looked similar to the lifesystems whistle and the one used in
Pro Survival Kit's
Micro Pro Survival Kit. Unfortunatly, when blown, not a sound issued from it. I know that this is a long shot, but does anyone know a working way of turning a 22. or even 5.56mm shell into a whistle. (I know using a 5.56mm defies the point as it is the same size as the lifesystems whistle, but it would be fun.)
Thanks
