Gonna drive down to Raleigh,NC friday after work with my GF & one of her coworkers. We're gonna be picking up my Gf's grandmother & bring her back up to Jersey. Our itinarary is all written out ( where to eat, sleep & shop), our van prepped ( oil change, wipers, tires...etc) & the car kit set up for the drive (jumper cables, flashlight, refectors, fleece blanket..& so on). Just wondering in which of the states i'll be passing through will I be able to find some strike-anywhere matches? I can't find them here in NJ & wanna get some to put in my two K&M cases I have. I'm thinking Walmart.. but which state? Anyways, I can't wait to have some chicken & dumplings, hush puppies, biscuits & gravy, chopped pork bbq...

I usually find the Strike Anywhere Matches in the small Mom&Pop grocery stores and at country stores.

Are yousaying they're illegal in your home state? That's news to me.
Around here Krogers usually have them, in fact they usually cover all the bases in the fire-starter section.

I usually find the Strike Anywhere Matches in the small Mom&Pop grocery stores and at country stores. I second the smaller, out-of-the-way stores. It seems the old-timers still use them. I found them in a small hardware store a few miles from home, so I bought six boxes.

Hmm.. WTH is that? That doesn't look like any BBQ I've ever seen. Something wrong with it. Seems to be missing sauce, and it doesn't appear to be beef. Ha! You Texans and your beef. When are you gonna accept that real BBQ is pulled pork? (I'll give you that Texas jerky is the best though) Man, that photo is makin me drool.

I don't know, the Jerky we got when I was a kid was just beef sliced thin the long way and dried in the sun until it would crack if you bent it. We never put it in plastic because plastic might make it go moldy... Beef jerky I see now is all salt brine and sauce cured.

All I know is Jr.'s Texas Best Smokehouse (just outside Houston) has the best jerky I've ever had. Not surprising though. Isn't there a law about having to own at lest one grill/smoker if you live in Texas?

That my friends is North Carolina PORK BBQ and by appearance it is "Lexington Style" ,which is some of the finest PORK BBQ known to man. It is traditionally cooked over a bed of Hickory coals very slowly. Done correctly, the process takes 12-16 hours and produces a savory tender meat, served chopped or sliced with sides of slaw, baked beans, and hush puppies. BigDaddyTX, Texas beef BBQ is the best I've ever eaten. Had the pleasure of several fantastic meals in the Houston and College Station areas.
