My mother's woman's club has chosen the Connecticut Canaine Search and Rescue organization (http://ccsar.org/) as there adopted charity for this year. The goal of this arrangement is to raise donations for this SAR group. One of the ways they want to do this is by selling whistles with the CCSAR and/or woman's club logo on them. My questions is this: Can someone recommend a company that sells cheap but good quality whistles, and also does custom imprinting?

I am trying to avoid the tubular type of whistle like the ones sold by REI as the innards are nothing more than a shaved down gluestick.

Any help wiould be appreciated.

Are you sure? I have a tubular whistle made by lifesystems and as soon as I read your post, I went to check. I admit, the innard does look just like a glue stick, but it seems harder.

The following link goes to an outstanding source for getting just about anything personalized. Whistle selection is fair. Once you decide the product you want, the site will list a business close to you, so you can place and fill the order through them. http://www.promomart.com/pmindex.asp.

Hope this helps,
George

Hi:

I popped the insert out of one of my whistles that wasn't tuned right. The plug had all the appearances of a gluestick but, as you said, was harder. I just have a fear that if I need to use the whistle I'll find that the plug has softened from heat and fallen out.

What price range? I know Fox will imprint with a custom logo. Pete

Sadly, as cheap as possible. My current thought is to just by whistles and attach them to the safety cards that the CCSAR hands out to kids. I'm not even sure that they will go for it as they seem happy just doing bake sales.

See if these might work:

I have bought some from the second source and have been happy. If .99 works in your budget, contact the seller, he/she might be willing to sell you larger numbers. Pete

Thanks Pete.

I have submitted my suggestion and hopefully I'll hear back soon.

Coincidently, the second whistle you referred to was the same as the one in front of me when I was typing this. They aren't the best but for the price you really can't complain too much.

[color:"green"] SUCCESS! [/color]

The first 100 whistles will soon be for sale. I ended up getting quality pea type whistles on Ebay. They came with a coiled wrist bracelet and split rings. We then got a stack of trading cards from the SAR folks (the cards have basic instructions for lost children on the back) and laminated them. The final step was to have the ladies in my mother's club to hole punch the cards with grommets and assemble everything. Total expense is about $0.90 per unit and they intend to sell them for $3.00 with all profits going to CCSAR. If these are a success they are going to upgrade to imprinted whistles from a local trophy shop for just under $2.00 a piece and raise the unit price to $4.00.

If I can get a good picture of the finished product I will try and post it.
