Equipped website problem? Or is it local

Hello everyone,
Last night I couldn't get on the Equipped to Survive forum. Did anyone else have this problem? It was strange. I could get to every lame site (weather network, drudge, google, mainstream news etc) but I couldn't get on a single survival forum/blog. I tried from two computers (both on the same ISP). I could get on my wife's wedding forum but nothing survival related. (I got the shakes and cold sweats of withdrawal. C'est horrible!)
Sites I couldn't get on to included:
-Equipped to Survive forum -http://www.aussurvivalist.com/forum/ -http://www.survivalblog.com/ -http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/ -http://ferfal.blogspot.com/ and others.
It seemed like a very selective outage. I was wondering if someone was filtering the word "survival".
Likely just a local thing but I wanted to touch base, in the event that it wasn't.

What time was it. Until about 2200 CST I had no problems.

It was, if I recall correctly, sometime after 7pm (EST) until 10:30pm (Perhaps later but I went to bed).

Seems there is a problem. Either that or someone caused a topic to be unable to be looked up in the database. However, it still shows on the active topics.

No SQL errors, and I didn't bounce the server in the last 24 hours (ETS main server was bounced on Sunday for security updates, but it's a separate instance from the forum server).

Remember this web page: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ It lets you check an internet address to see if it is working for this site. -Tommy

It did that to me earlier today. I thought it might be browser issue but both FF and IE were unable to find the server, so I assumed it was down for an upgrade.

The forum was unreachable last night and a few times earlier this afternoon when I tried to access it.

What error were you guys getting?
If I recall correctly I wasn't getting the "address not found error".
Is the DNS working yet we still can't get through? Next time I'll trace the IP.

There is a little internet diagnostic utility called traceroute. Use it to figure out what the normal path is between your computer and the destination. When things are not responding, you'll get a bunch of asterisks at a certain hop. If you know about where that is, you'll know about where the problem lies. If for example forums.equipped.org responds to the traceroute, but you cannot get anything up, it is most likely a server software issue.
Optionally, you can take the output and put it through a Geographic trace program. I could not find a good one within 5 minutes so I gave up.
