I replayed that movie this afternoon.

At the beginning, a sequence shows Rangers firing their long guns at paper targets and then a Delta guy comes and shoots his pistol, walking right into the fire field, betwwen the shooting Rangers and the targets.

Or did I wrongly see this ??

Yeah, you saw right. Those Delta boys are 'a bunch of undisciplined cowboys' according to the Ranger Captain....
Not to mention a crazy bunch too......

I'm still trying to find mention of the Air Force PJ's who where in the middle of the fight, fixin' good guys and killin' bad guys...

PJ = para rescue jumper, part of the United states airforce ( USAF ). medic's who jump in to sh*t to save soldiers and civilian lives. they shoot to....

I have found those names in the book "Black Hawk down" :
- Technical sergeant Tim WILKINSON is definitely a PJ ;
- Master sergeant Scott FALES being his team leader, I guess he is the second PJ on board of Black Hawk Super Six Eight, the rescue bird.

Next time I have a look at the movie, I will try to pay more attention to those characters.

Not sure, but I don't think they're in the movie. In a commentary by the director or screenwriter, I forget which, they said that they could not fit everybody who was there into a two hour movie, so they had to leave some out. Also, a lot of the characters in the movie are combinations of several people who were actually there. In addition to the PJs they left out USAF Forward Air Controllers and US Navy SEALs who were there. (for some reason I feel that there was another small group there that was left out, too, but it's not coming to me at the moment)

Although I liked the movie, it is a shame that more of an effort wasn't made to give the proper credit to those who were there. Seems to happen alot when they turn a good book into a movie.

I thought they were the two characters, jumping from Super Six Eight, on the first crash site (in the movies a few moment before Super Six Four is downded).
One calls the other "Matty" ?!?
Later on, one of them, while busy with the wounded crewmen, says he will prepare margaritas "as usual" when back at camp.
