Is anyone using this radio? I want to get something that will have few chanells, police, ems and fd freq. , be small, portable and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

If you looked at the radio I mentioned you would realize it has all the stuff I'm asking for but it cost very little in comparison to similar models even by the same manufacturer ($150 less). Usually when something is cheap and has most of the features I want I become sceptical. There is no such thing as free lunch expecially in elctronics. You pay for what you get.If I have to spend $300 to get a high up model I will but would prefer not too. I know that we have few good guys on the board who are into radios and their opinion will mostly influence my purchase.

I don't have this unit but I do have an FT 11. Yaesu is a good manufacturer in terms of product and service. They are my top pick over my Alinco (garbage) and Icom radios.

If you do get this radio definitely spend the extra $ for the programming software. You won't be disappointed.
