As well as searching for a cheaper folder, i've also decided (not finally), to look for a tool more affordable than the wave. I'm considering the juice Kf4 as it has all the functions that I would want. My major worry about the Kf4 if the lack of locking tools. Another alternative would be the Leatherman Supertool 200. Any ideas? thanks

in europe a Swisstool give's the best bang for the buck. the cheapest swisstool i have seen is more than twice as cheap as the cheapest wave i have seen, but it is a bigger stronger tool ( also heavier... ) suitaible for harder jobs. All impliments are also locking and accesable from the outside. I got one and i like it ! only bad thing is it heavy weight for EDC and the polisched finished which leave fingerprints visible.
some other cheaper, but good manufacture's like SOG are also worth looking at.

Victorinox is definitely worth looking into in my opinion. I've seen their multitools and as a general and specialised tool(s) they do look good. But, like PC2K said, they are a little heavy compared to other multitools. But then how much does weight matter in an urban environment?

I've replaced my Wave with the Juice tool. I use the Kf4 variant, and am well satisfied. I don't feel I give up anything but weight.

Yes, the blades don't lock. I'm careful.

Swisstool is comparable to Super Tool, not to wave when it comes to stregth. I like the Swisstool and the locking blade make it a tough competitor for the Wave but one hand blade opening on Leatherman product makes enough difference for me to keep Wave ahead of Swisstool.

I am a big fan of the locking tools that the Super Tool offers. I think that they are equally important as a locking blade if you are applying any significant force.

I have had all the multitools except the SOG, and right now I am on my second swisstool. I think they are by far the best. Better quality, better locks, and better look, which according to my wife is important. I have recommended the swisstool RS to everyone I know who is looking for a multitool and I have posted about it many times on this forum. I just cant say enough about it. It is heavy, but so are leathermens, although the newer smaller models are lighter, they just dont offer you the same functionality and depenedability as the swisstools.
