Just a reminder to keep the plactic netting that goes around that turkey or ham. It makes a good collection bag when forageing and also makes a great fish trap. It can be cut and used on small streams as a gill net or can be used with a forked stick as a fish net, for the big one you catch on your survival fishing kit.

I even saved the one off the christmas tree for a big gill net

We don't get that type of net on turkeys here and the stringy stuff on the hams is not very useful (tried and failed) but we still get the mesh onion bags which are great.

good idea. we only use the frozen turkey breasts tho, that bag isn't big enough to catch much of anything...

A handier, and tougher version, is available at cooking stores for a couple of bucks. They are made of variously colored nylon that wads up into a tight ball and weigh a few grams each. They are used as shopping bags in Europe. Mesh size is typically about 1/2" square. Laid flat they are about the size of a long gym sock but they expand so you could easily carry a watermelon and still have room on top for more. They are usually strong enough to hold fifty pounds or more.
